ON-CALL SNOW AND ICE OPERATOR – LABORER INDIANAPOLIS NORTH

Here’s what you’ll do:

Our Equipment Operators and Hand Shovelers are responsible for performing tasks related to snow removal including applying salt to ice.  Shifts may be on-call and range from 4 to 12 hours, most often overnight and early morning depending upon the timing of the storm event.

While these tasks can be performed safely, you will often be outdoors before the City has plowed. This position requires dedication, reliability, and tenacious drive with a willingness to work longer hours for larger storms.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Removing snow using a shovel
• Removing Snow using Snow Blowers, heavy equipment, side by sides, etc.
• Applying Salt to sidewalks and parking lots
• Participating in creating a safe work environment adhering to company policies and reporting any unsafe workplace behaviors to Supervisors
• Reporting any incidents or incomplete jobs to Management

You’ll be a good fit if:

• You’re a minimum of 18 years old
• You’re enthusiastic and reliable
• 1+ years of residential and commercial ice and snow experience
• Demonstratable skills to operate Snow Blowers, Side By Sides, Skid-Steers, Front End Loaders, Backhoe or equivalent heavy machinery with plows and snow containment boxes
• Working under pressure while observing safety guidelines isn’t personally stressful
• Physical ability to work outside, in wet, freezing weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50 – 60 pounds without restriction
• Ability to climb in and out of equipment
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Ability to safely operate all equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisors, Property Managers, and Dispatch
• Have proper Winter Weather attire to sustain freezing -20 temperatures up to 12 hours
• Drivers License and Reliable Transportation to and from sites along a route
• Ability to comprehend and pass a safety course
• Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and E-Verify
